Introducing research to support my practice.
In our group tutorials we reflected upon the research and critical sources we had to support our practice. Our task was to fill a page with these sources, whether they be books, films, articles etc and to present them on a page using as little words as we could. Approaching this task was quite a daunting one seeing as I am taking a detour a slightly altering my approach to my final project. I included the names of several artists I am looking at – Martha Rosler, Salvador Dalí and André Breton, the dates included, the techniques used and how they reflect my practice. As challenging as this task was – because we could only speak with images – I really enjoyed this approach as we were able to see how much we had, allowing us to either change or alter the direction we were moving in. For example, for me, I realised that I was extremely focused on coming up with ideas of objects to create for my final outcome when I should be focusing my attention slightly more on the context behind it. Why am I doing this? Who has influenced me and how can a draw for artistic references to create my own pieces?

Moving forward, I will be focusing my attention on the context behind my practice and allowing my research to inform the outcomes I produce. I know this will further widen and expand my knowledge and allow me to have more well rounded ideas with a support and a backbone throughout.
