My plan is to make a TV case in which I can place the TV that would play my short film. The reason for this is for more authenticity within the instillation – really wanting to add the feeling of being in a bedroom.

I drew up plans and contacted the university to see if they had any square monitors to fit my brief. Luckily they had one I could use. I took measurements of the TV so that I could create the case.

I then contacted the 3D workshop and sent in my plans. They informed me that it was possible and they were able to help me with this project.

They were extremely helpful during this process and actually oversaw a lot of the building. Once the case was built, I painted it a dark brown to give it the desired look. To minimise any risk, we decided to keep the back off the case so that all the heat could escape round the back of the box.

I then hired equipment from the MRC and wired up the TV and connected my memory stick. This allowed for the image to upload. When it played, my question was how to get it to play on a loop – it does it automatically, which it great for the exhibition.
